Aria Mary Francis is a Grenadian model who has been published in notable publications, such as Vogue, Vogue Italia, Teen Vogue, WWD, Time, Forbes, The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, Essence, The Telegraph, Billboard Magazine, NY Mag, Paper, Hypebeast and on various designer websites and social media pages, including for designers Fe Noel, Charles Harbison, Ana Granada and Oyato.
Aria is well-known in Grenada and externally, for her photogenic appeal on and off the runway, only to be matched by her engaging, amicable personality and natural charm.
She has participated in international events such as the 2011 Elite Model Look T&T Competition, where she was one of two country representatives at the show in Trinidad, and at the Miss. Humanity International pageant, in Barbados in 2013.
Aria has walked at Caribbean Fashion Week, in Jamaica, where the popular Jamaican site, "Large Up", referred to Aria as being "...definitely one to watch", in an article on Caribbean Fashion Week.
Between 2014 and 2016 Aria presented at showcases and runway shows for both MADE and New York Fashion Week, in New York, walking for several designers such as Kanye West (Yeezy Season 3), Harbison, Chromat, Manzanares NY and Samantha Black. At the 2016 Yeezy Season 3 show Aria graced the main stage, at Madison Square Garden, along with supermodels, such as Naomi Campbell, Veronica Webb, Alek Wek and Liya Kebede.
Following the Harbison [Spring/Summer 2016/SS16] Aria was featured, among other well-established models, in an article by the Huffington Post, titled “Fashion Week’s Natural Hair Moments That Made Us Shout For Joy”, highlighting designers who used black and biracial models, who wore natural hairstyles. In September 2015, Aria was also listed by Essence magazine as one of “15 of the Hottest Models to Watch from NYFW”.
In October, 2015, Aria walked for four designers at Fashion Week Brooklyn (FWBK), one of the top independent fashion shows internationally. She presented for Guinevere Villaran, XioCrochet, A-Z and Amparo3. During that same month, she participated in the benefit fashion show, Cosmo Girls Glam Event. The event was attended by celebrities like Lil Mama and benefited several charities, including the Breast Cancer Association, the American Heart Association, the Center Against Domestic Violence, the Ralph Lauren Cancer Center and Autism Speaks. Aria also walked for designer Heather Weatherly, for the first time, at the well-known indie designers showcase, Raw: NYC, in January, 2016.
Additionally, she appeared in a commercial shoot for Columbia's new alternative artist, Raury, in September 2015, and was also the model of choice for celebrity hairstylist, Shedelle Holmes, for the launch of her hair extension brand, Ellextensions.
Aria is a popular choice among designers, such as Oyato in Baltimore, Simply Intricate/Fe Noel and Kira Nacole in New York, among others, to be photographed for their lookbooks.
In July 2015, Aria was the only model from Grenada featured in an editorial spread, “Cast Away”, in She Caribbean magazine’s issue #67, which featured the beauty of Grenada’s beaches and landscape. She is also the first cover girl of Parallel Magazine, a new U.S. online publication.
All of these accomplishments are in addition to her extensive past pageant history. In Grenada, Aria has participated in Grenada Olympia [2nd in Bikini Tall Class], 2012; Miss. St. George, 2012 [2nd Runner-Up]; Miss. Whitsuntide, 2013 [1st Runner-Up]; Face of Grenada, 2014 [1st Runner Up] and the National Queen Show, 2014 [2nd Runner-Up]. She also annually partakes in Spicemas mas band activities.
Aria’s future goals are to continue to model professionally, develop her acting skills for theatre and film and use her social work knowledge and experience to contribute towards the social well-being of others, in Grenada and beyond.
